Driving Procedures
At the beginning of each year it’s really important to review the driving strategies with regard to dropping off or picking up students. Obviously, this building is not the “normal” high school facility, so we have some little “quirks” about the driving policy. We must remain fair to our business associates who rent the other spaces on both ends of our building. Please read through the following; if you have questions, don’t hesitate to call the school, and we will be glad to explain.
- To drop off students, you MUST enter off Darlington and circle to the west side of the building. Students will be dropped off at the entrance stairs on the west side.
- Do not enter off 51st at THE PARK entrance and try to drive “upstream” as it will cause confusion and accidents.
- Do not drop off students at the front (east side) because that area is reserved for other businesses and parking spaces.
- Students and teachers WHO DRIVE themselves, and have their parking space on the east side, are permitted to enter from the atrium glass doors.
- Seniors and juniors get first choice for parking spaces. They must buy a space and receive a decal from Mrs. Womack or Mrs. Bonnallie in the front office. Sophomores may receive parking spaces IF any are left. If no places are left, sophomores (and freshmen) must carpool or find other means of transportation.
I have discussed all of these driving procedures with our landlord and other lessees of these facilities. We will abide under these conditions in order to maintain a safe, healthy educational environment.Arrange to pick up your students on the west side of our building. We need to continue our good relationships with our business neighbors. If the traffic is a problem, arrange to pick up your student after 3:00 p.m. Traffic through the parking lot is really decreased by that time. It is also safer for the students to be picked up by our front door. Thanks for your continued cooperation!
